The major responsibility for ensuring the spirit of fair play rests with the captains (in the ECB Code of Conduct). Any action, which is seen to abuse this spirit, causes injury to the game itself. Cricket is a game that owes much of its unique appeal to the fact that it should be played not only within its laws, but also within the spirit of the game.The ECB and the GMCL are committed to maintaining the highest standards of behaviour and conduct in Junior Cricket.The following provisions of this Article 3, drawn from the ECB “code of conduct” and “spirit of cricket” will apply to all Junior Cricket.

The Junior Cricket Committee shall retain a full discretion to make arrangements considered to be in the best interests of the Junior League, its participating clubs and junior players.ģ. Subject to sufficient numbers in a given age group and area, in the second half of the season teams shall be arranged into Performance Leagues (still within the East and West areas) according to the clubs’ standings following the geographical leagues. For the first half of the season the Junior League shall be organised on a geographical basis, between East and West and sub-dividing those areas as appropriate according to clubs’ entries.The optional Junior Cup will run upon the conclusion of the Junior League, subject to sufficient interest/entries. Where possible the Junior League shall run on a 14 week term, ending prior to the school summer holidays.The junior team managers at each club shall be responsible for the day to day running of Junior Cricket and completion of fixtures.The Junior Cricket Committee may delegate tasks and roles as necessary. Junior Cricket shall be managed by the Junior Cricket Committee and overseen by the GMCL Board.A failure to comply with the Junior Rules or any ruling or direction of the Junior Cricket Committee may lead to disciplinary action against the Club or player concerned, in accordance with the decision of the Junior Cricket Committee or the GMCL Board.The Junior Cricket Committee shall have the authority to make rulings in respect of any matters not adequately addressed by the Junior Rules.Amendments to the Junior Rules shall be made by the Junior Cricket Committee and announced at the Junior Cricket AGM.

Nothing herein shall affect junior cricket not administered by the GMCL.

All Junior Cricket will be played in accordance with the Laws of cricket as set down by the MCC/ ECB and GMCL rules except where these have been varied by these Junior Rules.

The GMCL junior leagues shall be known throughout these Junior Rules as the Junior League and the GMCL junior cup competitions shall be known as the Junior Cup and collectively as Junior Cricket.
